What is a gumstix™ motherboard?

Gumstix motherboards drive our full- function, gum stick size Linux computers. Each gumstix motherboard is packed with the power and performance of much larger SBCs, making gumstix motherboards perfect as the brains of network management appliances, handheld devices, industrial monitors, robotics and much more.

Gumstix motherboards come in three product lines; basix, connex and verdex. The connex and basix motherboards are based on Marvell® PXA255 with XScale™, while verdex motherboards offers more power with Marvell® PXA270 with XScale™. Each motherboard comes pre-flashed with Linux 2.6 and Linux OpenEmbedded and has been designed to run standalone, or with additional function via optional expansion boards.

basix motherboards can accommodate one expansion board while connex and verdex motherboards add more flexibility by way of adding two expansion boards: one on each side.
